FREE TIME STUDY ON A PHONE

Time each cycle. Keep the reasons with the times.

Watch a repeated job at one station and tap at each cycle boundary. CycleBench records every cycle against the station and activity, keeps interruptions inside the cycle they belong to and gives you the mean of the cycles you include.

Free to use. No account, email address or trial. Works offline once prepared.

Illustrative values from a fictional study, not a measurement. A mean of observed cycles is not a labour standard.

MADE FOR THE FLOOR

For supervisors, team leaders and process engineers who want to know how long a repeated job takes at a station, without copying stopwatch laps into a spreadsheet.

A USEFUL STARTING POINT

A mean only describes the cycles behind it

A list of stopwatch laps loses the context: which station, which job, and why one cycle took longer. CycleBench records each cycle with its station, activity and any interruption reasons, and reports the mean of the cycles you choose to include. An excluded cycle keeps its raw duration and the reason you gave, so anyone reading the report can see what was left out and why.

FROM QUESTION TO EVIDENCE

Three steps to a useful result.

  1. 01

    Scan the station and activity

Scan a station barcode and an activity code with the phone camera, or type them. They are labels you declare, not a live lookup of a machine or a job.

  2. 02

    Tap each cycle boundary

Press Start cycle study as the first cycle begins, Next cycle at each repeat and Finish study after the last. The clock shows the elapsed time of the cycle in progress.

  3. 03

    Review the cycles

Exclude an accidental tap or an unusual cycle with a written reason. The selected mean updates, and the CSV and PDF still show every cycle, included or not.

A CONCRETE EXAMPLE

Four cycles, one mean, nothing hidden

A supervisor times a bracket fitting job at station BENCH-04: 41.2, 38.9, 44.6 and 39.7 seconds. A fifth cycle of 2.1 seconds came from a tap made too soon, so it is excluded with the reason accidental boundary tap. The selected mean of the four included cycles is 41.1 seconds. The excluded cycle stays in the CSV and PDF with its raw duration and reason.

USED IN PRODUCTION

From a timed study to a better routine.

CycleBench shows where the time goes while you watch. Two SmartFACT services handle what repeats every day: making an improved method the one each unit follows, and getting materials to the line before anyone waits for them. Both are in early access, with scope agreed at onboarding. CycleBench does not send observations to either service.

Early access

WorkSteps

When a study shows a better way to do the job, WorkSteps makes it the method each unit follows. Describe in plain English when each approved step applies. Approved rules select the steps from each unit's options, ask for the evidence you specify and keep a record of the completed work.

Early access

RefillFlow

When the interruptions you record are waits for materials, RefillFlow turns an empty container at the line into one refill request. Stores gets a printed ticket and a board to work from, and the line records what arrived. Approved plain English rules set the stores queue, priority and escalation.

BEFORE YOU START

A few practical answers.

Can I get the times into a spreadsheet?

Yes. Download observations CSV gives a row for each cycle and each interruption, with durations in milliseconds, whether the cycle is included, review notes and start and end timestamps. Text a spreadsheet could read as a formula is escaped. Import code columns as text to keep leading zeroes.

Does a scan start the timer?

No. A scan only sets the station, activity or interruption reason. Every timing boundary is a large tap, because pointing a camera and decoding a barcode take a variable amount of time.

Is the mean a standard time?

No. It describes the cycles you observed and included. CycleBench does not apply performance ratings or allowances, does not calculate a labour standard and does not compare or rank people.

What are the current limits?

CycleBench records what one observer sees, on one device, while the page stays open and in view. If the screen locks, the page is hidden or the clocks disagree, the unfinished interval is marked uncertain and nothing is measured until you resume with a new boundary. The tool does not keep the screen awake. It does not monitor machines, read sensors or video, calculate OEE, rate or rank people, set labour standards or feed payroll. One study runs at a time. A project holds up to 100 studies, 1,000 observations per study, 3,000 observations and 5,000 interruptions in total, and 100 interruptions per observation. Each observation lasts up to 24 hours, labels up to 128 characters and review notes up to 500. Station, activity and reason lists cannot be imported, and the tool does not print code sheets.

What happens to my data?

Your study stays in this browser. It starts as temporary work in the tab's memory; Save on this device keeps it between visits. Nothing you record is uploaded, and no account or contact details are needed. The camera opens only when you press its button in a scan field, and barcodes are decoded on the device. Google Analytics is optional and loads only after you accept; it never receives codes, reasons, timings or notes. Use Analytics settings to change your choice; see /privacy/.
